Swisscom announced that it will bring the first driverless car to the streets of Switzerland, in cooperation with the authorities. The self-driving car will be presented at a press event on 12 May, inside-it.ch reports. The Federal Roads Office (Astra) confirmed that the Federal Department for Environment, Transports, Energy and Telecommunications (Uvek) granted Swisscom an exemption for the tests with a driverless car on public roads. This exemption is necessary because the driver normally must not let go off the steering wheel.
