T-Mobile Austria upgrades LTE network to 150 Mbps
T-Mobile Austria is upgrading all customers with 100 Mbps LTE tariffs to 150 Mbps speeds at no extra charge. Users need CAT4-enabled end devices to use the higher speeds, including the Home Net router, Samsung Galaxy S5 or Sony Xperia Z2. Customers being upgraded include those using Smart Net Unlimited XL, Home Net XL, Stick Net L, Tab Net XL tariffs or the United Internet LTE 6 GB option. T-Mobile currently covers 2.1 million people across Austria with LTE, with around 1.5 million served by the new 150 Mbps top speed.

Austrian mobile service revenues drop 6.2% in Q4 after termination rate cut

The reduction in mobile termination rates in Austria in November 2013 led to a 6.2 percent drop in mobile service revenues during the fourth quarter of 2013. Compared to Q4 2012, mobile service revenues fell 12.2 percent, to EUR 587 million. T-Mobile Austria clarifies reports of price increases

T-Mobile Austria has issued a statement clarifying recent press reports that the operator and subsidiary tele.ring were increasing fees for existing customers. T-Mobile said that the reports were not entirely correct and that it was only adjusting rates in line with inflation for selected tariffs. Tariff prices were rising by 2 percent in line with the Consumer Index provided by Statistik Austria. This will be applied on bills in May and customers will be informed with their April statements.

T-Mobile Austria has appointed Thomas Kadlec as Senior Vice President of its Solutions division with effect from 01 April. In this role, he has responsibility for the company's IT infrastructure and reports direct to chief technology officer (CTO) Ruediger Koester. He replaces Peter Woehrer, who is leaving the company.

VKI wins ruling against T-Mobile unlimited surfing claims

Austrian consumer group VKI has won a court ruling against T-Mobile Austria's unlimited mobile internet claims. The VKI took action because the operator was offering unlimited mobile internet and then throttling bandwidth to 64 kbps once a customer used 3 GB data in a month. The Vienna Commercial Court ruled that the advertising was misleading.

T-Mobile Austria's discount brand tele.ring is offering customers a version of the abalo app from Austrian start-up Abalo Media, which has developed an innovative concept for advertising on mobile phones. T-Mobile Austria sees strong increase in data traffic

T-Mobile Austria said that the volume of data on its network doubled in 2013 and has increased by 960 percent since 2009. Speaking during a press conference at Mobile World Congress (MWC), CEO Andreas Bierwirth said that data traffic on the T-Mobile network increased by 960 percent between December 2009 and December 2013, from 233 TB to 2,457 TB.
