T-Mobile Netherlands has reached nationwide 5G coverage, just three months after first launching its 5G network. The company said 90 percent of the population can access the network.
A speedy roll-out of nationwide 5G was one of the promises made by T-Mobile when it acquired Tele2's mobile network at the start of 2019. The 5G launch was made possible by the new spectrum acquired in the auction in July this year, including frequencies in the 700 MHz band. T-Mobile started the preparations already before the auction and said nationwide coverage was completed faster than expected.
The 5G services started at the end of July for customers with a suitable device and subscription. T-Mobile's CEO Soren Abildgaard will give a presentation next month at Telecompaper's Telecom Insights 2020 event on the operator's 5G services for consumers and the user experience to date.
