T-Mobile NL prepares customers for eventual GSM shutdown

T-Mobile Netherlands is preparing for the eventual shutdown of its GSM network, according to a report from Telecompaper's sister company GSMHelpdesk. While none of the Dutch operators have yet given a date for switching off 2G, operators in other countries such as the US, Australia and Taiwan are preparing for the move, in order to free up spectrum for 4G networks. T-Mobile's customer service is now advising customers still using GSM-only phones to upgrade to 3G or 4G devices. The customer service refers to a special information page on T-Mobile's website where it warns customers with GSM
