T-Mobile Poland starts 5G services

Mobile operator T-Mobile Poland announced that its customers can connect to the 5G network from 09 June. The services will be available on 1,600 base stations across the country, and the 5G network already covers 6 million residents. 

5G services will be available in Warsaw and its surroundings, as well as in Lodz, Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw, Plock, Opole, Czestochowa, Rzeszow, Bielsko-Biala, Kielce and the industrial agglomeration of Upper Silesia. The 5G network operates on the 2,100 MHz band. 

Subscribers of tariff plans introduced by the operator since September 2019, as well as subscribers of the MagentaBiznes tariff line will be able to use the services.

T-Mobile Poland has refreshed its MagentaBiznes offer, following the introduction of 5G services by the operator. The MagentaBiznes L tariff has been modified, increasing the broadband speed from 60 Mbps to 200 Mbps, and all customers with a compatible device can use 5G at no extra cost until year-end.

Mobile operator Orange Poland announced that it plans to start providing 5G services on 01 July. The services will be available under the #hello5G brand. Almost 6 million subscribers of the operator will be covered to start.

Polish mobile operator P4, trading under the Play brand, said that its 5G network is currently available in 53 cities, towns and villages across the country. The operator uses 2,100 MHz spectrum for the services.

Revenues of the mobile operator T-Mobile Poland totaled PLN 1.557 billion in the first quarter of this year, up by 4.1 percent year-on-year. Adjusted EBITDA AL grew by by 4 percent to PLN 414 million.

Poland's telecommunications regulator UKE announced that it issued 265 decisions clearing or prolonging tests of 5G technology in the 2,100 MHz, 3.5 GHz, 26 GHz and 28 GHz bands in 2019. Operators Orange Poland, T-Mobile Poland, Play and Exatel applied for the permits.

Mobile operator T-Mobile Poland said it owns 800 base stations ready for 5G services in Warsaw. Another 800 base stations ready for 5G services will become available in five cities, namely Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Lodz and Katowice, in the first half of this year, bringing the total to 1,600.

Mobile operator T-Mobile Poland has launched its indoor 5G network in the hub:raum innovation centre in Krakow. Pico-cells from Nokia are used for this purpose. Start-ups working in the innovation centre will use the network for their projects on the basis of the Edge Computing technology.
