Orange Poland to launch 5G services in July

Mobile operator Orange Poland announced that it plans to start providing 5G services on 01 July. The services will be available under the #hello5G brand. Almost 6 million subscribers of the operator will be covered to start.

The operator is in the process of completing the upgrade of its network to support the 5G launch on 1,600 base stations. The services will be available in Warsaw, Krakow, Lodz and Katowice, as well as other locations. The 2,100 MHz band, which to date has been used by the operator for LTE services, will be allocated for 5G services. 

Orange Poland also continues testing of 5G technology on the 3.5 GHz and 26 GHz bands. 

The operator said it plans to offer customers 5G end-user devices also from July.

Orange Poland launches 5G for business customers

Mobile operator Orange Poland has introduced its #hello5G offer for retail and corporate customers. Under the first stage of commercial 5G services from the operator, customers will be able to choose from seven models of smartphones supporting 5G, including the Xiaomi Mi 10, Mi 10 Lite and Mi 10 Pro, the Motorola Edge, LG Velvet, Huawei P40 and Huawei P40 Pro..

Mobile operator T-Mobile Poland announced that its customers can connect to the 5G network from 09 June. The services will be available on 1,600 base stations across the country, and the 5G network already covers 6 million residents.

Poland's telecommunications regulator UKE announced that it issued 265 decisions clearing or prolonging tests of 5G technology in the 2,100 MHz, 3.5 GHz, 26 GHz and 28 GHz bands in 2019. Operators Orange Poland, T-Mobile Poland, Play and Exatel applied for the permits.

Orange Poland tests radio link in 80 GHz band with 5G base station in Lublin

Mobile operator Orange Poland has deployed a radio link to its 5G base station in the city of Lublin, as part 5G network testing in the city. A 250 MHz block in the 80 GHz band was used for the connection, instead of a fibre-optic line, and the test achieved a speed of 3.2 Gbps on the 2.6-km line.

Orange Poland invites Polish start-ups to cooperate under 5G Challenge project

Mobile operator Orange Poland has invited Polish-based start-ups to cooperate under the framework of the European 5G Challenge project. Start-ups participating in the project will get the chance to develop 5G services, to work using the cloud systems and IoT platform of Orange, and to carry out pilot projects based on their research. Orange Poland will enable the start-ups to use its Orange FAB acceleration programme. Applications for participation can be submitted until 29 February.
