T-Mobile switches off last legacy MetroPCS CDMA networks

T-Mobile US has shut the last of its 3G CDMA networks in New York, Miami and Dallas, which had 190,000 customers combined, on 21 June. T-Mobile shut down the legacy CDMA systems from MetroPCS in Las Vegas, Hartford and Boston a year ago. T-Mobile expects customers to upgrade as long as they lose service, but they could go with another provider. LightReading writes that 92 percent of customers upgraded with T-Mobile when the three networks were switched off last year. T-Mobile has spent between USD 375 million and USD 475 million on shutting down MetroPCS markets. The move enables AWS and PCS
