T-Mobile US rebrands One plan to Magenta, passes on Netflix price increase

T-Mobile US is adopting the Magenta brand name of its parent company with a revamp of its standard unlimited plan. The T-Mobile One Plan will be called Magenta going forward and come with an extra 3GB per month of LTE data for hotspot use. T-Mobile is also downgrading the Netflix subscription included in the plan to the Basic service, while existing T-Mobile One customers will pay an extra USD 2 per month if they want to stay on Netflix's Standard plan.

The Magenta plan is otherwise unchanged from T-Mobile One, including the price. T-Mobile also announced a new offer to win over customers from rival operators, saying it will match any employer, affiliate, senior or military discounts they may have if they switch to Magenta. This offer is worth up to USD 15 off the monthly price or USD 30 for accounts with two or more lines.

In addition, new and existing customers can benefit from offers on new smartphones. New customers trading in an eligible device and taking at least two lines can get a free smartphone via bill credits over 24 months, paying only the sales tax on the device. All customers can get up to USD 300 off a new Samsung Galaxy S10 series phone via a rebate with a qualified trade-in, or get up to USD 900 off if they buy a second S10 and add another line to their account.

The new offers are available from 02 June.
