T-Mobile Austria has rebranded to Magenta Telekom after the mobile operator's merger with UPC Austria. The company will provide services under the single brand name Magenta T going forward.
The operator has 2,500 employees. In the financial year 2018, the concern generated revenues of over EUR 1 billion and counted 8.5 million customers. Magenta Telekom operates also as a M2M expert for the Deutsche Telekom Group.
Magenta is already used as a brand name for tariff plans and its fixed-mobile offer in other countries of the Deutsche Telekom group. The colour is standard in its 'T' logo and branding. This is the first time the name Magenta is used for a group company.
The focus of the merged group will include expanding gigabit broadband access, as well as unlimited mobile data offers with '5G ready tariffs' and the Magenta TV app for online video. In addition, customers will benefit from discounts under the MagentaEINS offer when they take multiple services.
Gigabit service in Vienna
From 07 May, around 1 million households and offices in Vienna have access to internet service at up to 1 Gbps (previously a maximum of 300 Mbps). Outside Vienna, Magenta customers now have access to the top speed of 500 Mbps (previously a maximum of 300 Mbps).
Under the Magenta TV service, the operator introduces a new Magenta TV App for all Magenta customers, who can thus use the popular TV bundles previously reserved for cable customers with an extensive range of TV programmes and HD channels via Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, smart TVs and soon also on Apple TV, as well as on smartphones and tablets.
Magenta Business will offer products for all companies, ranging from sole traders to large listed enterprises. The portfolio is based on the NB-IoT network, mobile network (evaluated as the best by the magazines Connect and Chip) and speeds of up to 1 Gbps, as well as the cable network and DSL throughout Austria. With the "1:1" service, every company has a personal service partner at its disposal. Together with T-Systems, Magenta can offer IT products tailored to the businesses' requirements.
Magenta T network
In the coming weeks, the existing smartphone network identifier will be changed from T-Mobile A to the new Magenta T. This process will take several weeks.
As a visible sign that customers of the second brand Tele.ring as well as the old UPC Mobile brand are part of the Magenta family, the network identifier will also change to Magenta T in the course of the next few weeks. There will be special offers for both customer groups. For legal reasons the name T-Mobile Austria will remain visible for a while until the conversion to Magenta Telekom is formally completed.
