T-Mobile wants USD 1 bln breakup fee in Sprint deal - report

T-Mobile US is asking for compensation of USD 1 billion if its proposed takeover by Sprint is vetoed by regulators, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal. Deutsche Telekom, which owns 67 percent of T-Mobile US, wants the break-up fee of over USD 1 billion and promises that T-Mobile's brand and some of its management team would remain after a merger, according to the report. The carriers are working toward securing a deal in the near term, the paper's sources said.
