Taiwan gets 4 bids for 2.6GHz spectrum license

Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) has received applications from four telecoms interested in bidding for 2.6 GHz spectrum, Taipei Times reports. The 2.5GHz and 2.6GHz tender is scheduled for launch in October. Interested operators have until 4 September to submit their applications, post a TWD 1 billion (approximately USD 30.52 million) bond, and pay a TWD 1 million application review fee. The list of qualified bidders is expected to be released by end-September or the beginning of next month, the commission said.

The Commission plans to announce the names of the four applicants on 4 September. An unnamed industry source told the Taipei Times that Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, Far EasTone Telecommunication and Asia-Pacific Telecom have submitted applications. The NCC set the auction reserve price for the band between 2.5GHz and 2.6GHz at TWD 14.4 billion.
