Takilant found guilty of bribery in Uzbekistan mobile case

A Dutch court has found the company Takilant guilty of accepting bribes from VimpelCom and Telia in exchange for mobile spectrum licences in Uzbekistan. The Gibraltar-based company is linked to Gulnara Karimova, the daughter of Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov, according to court documents and people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reported. The court found Takilant guilty of complicity to bribery and forgery, but rejected the prosecutor's claim of money laundering, as there was no evidence the money paid by VimpelCom and Telia came from criminal activities.
