TalkTalk profit up on cost savings, still losing customers

TalkTalk reported a drop in revenues for its fiscal first half to September due to customer losses, but said the success of new broadband plans and cost savings should help it deliver its full-year guidance and maintain its dividend. First-half revenue fell 1.1 percent to GBP 902 million, while EBITDA jumped to GBP 130 million from GBP 90 million a year ago. The margin improved to 14.4 percent from 9.9 a year earlier thanks to cost savings in sales and marketing due to fewer new customers and reductions from the 'Making TalkTalk Simpler' programme. Net profit rose to GBP 35 million from GBP
