TalkTalk CEO Baroness Harding has warned that UK consumers will face higher mobile charges if the proposed takeover of O2 UK by Hutchison Whampoa, which already owns 3 UK, proceeds, reports The Telegraph. TalkTalk currently rents mobile capacity from Vodafone but is set to transfer to a new contract with O2 in the coming months. She claimed the merger, which will cut the number of mobile networks from four to three, is more worrying for consumers that BT's takeover of EE. She cited a recent price increase introduced by 3 Ireland following Hutchison's acquisition of O2 Ireland.
