Tech companies provide update on government data requests

On 3 February, big technology companies, including Facebook, Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn and Yahoo, released updated reports on the number of government requests for information on their users. This is the first information release since the tech companies reached a deal with federal authorities allowing them to disclose certain information regarding government requests for user information. In summer 2013, the technology companies filed lawsuits against the US government arguing the right to disclose more detailed information about the types of requests the government makes. Following
