Technicolor confirms early-stage talks over possible M&A options

Technicolor issued a statement in response to a recent press report from Reuters, which quoted unnamed sources indicating that the company is exploring its strategic options, including a full or partial sale. The statement confirms that discussions over possible M&A transactions are at a preliminary stage, but that no strategic decision or commitment has been made.

According to Reuters, Technicolor has been holding talks for months with potential partners and private equity firms, including Bain Capital. One of the options under consideration is reportedly the disposal of its Connected Home business, which has been experiencing difficulties in the US market and posted falling revenues for the first nine months of the year.  A source told Reuters that the company received non-binding offers for this division earlier this month.

In March, Technicolor agreed to sell its Patent Licensing business to InterDigital in a transaction valued at USD 475 million.
