Telcel to no longer use court injunctions to ignore regulator rulings

Mexico's Supreme Court ruled that mobile operator Telcel cannot block competitors by using court injunctions to ignore the decisions of telecoms regulator Cofetel, The Wall Street Journal reports. Telcel said in a statement that it will comply with the court's decision. Meanwhile, the legal actions that Telcel has brought regarding Cofetel's rulings on interconnection rates in previous years will continue their course, Telcel said. Market competitor Nextel Mexico unit argues that the interconnection fees are higher than the fees Telcel charges its own customers for calls within the network
