Telco CEOs to meet EC to discuss policy reform

Top executives from 11 European carriers, including Vodafone Group and Orange, are set to meet 23 February with European Commission officials to urge the latter to "adapt its policy approach" to areas that include "online platforms" as part of a planned review of telecommunications policy this year, according to an agenda of the meeting reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. "Current regulation has to change," Telefonica Cesar Alierta said in a speech a day prior at Mobile World Congress, adding that the goal should be to achieve "same service, same rules, same protection."
