Telcos called to challenge national data retention laws

Telecom operators should challenge the legality of national data retention laws in the EU, as none of the countries are in compliance with human rights law on the matter, according to research by the NGO Privacy International. None of the 21 EU states surveyed in its report were living up to the European Court of Justice's two rulings on data retention, it found.
