Tele Columbus to provide 1 Gbps broadband in Berlin

German cable operator Tele Columbus said it plans to upgrade the internet bandwidth in Berlin from 400 Mbps to 1 Gbps within a few months. The company aims to achieve this goal by upgrading its network to the new transmission standard Docsis 3.1. The analogue switch-off will create the framework for delivering internet speeds up to the gigabit range to residential customers, the company said.
