Tele Columbus to rebrand as Pyur from October

Germany's third-largest cable operator Tele Columbus announced plans to rebrand under the name Pyur. Tele Columbus and its subsidiary Primacom will adopt the new name from October, and the other units Pepcom and HL komm will become Pyur from the first quarter of 2018. 

The name Pyur is expected to symbolize "clarity, transparency and fairness", said chairman Ronny Verhelst. The aim is to move away from the "small print" common in the industry and offer customers a simple, new portfolio of tariff plans with options such as monthly cancellation and only internet, he said in a statement. 

The new name and branding was developed with the creative agency Foundry, with implementation by Vim Group and McKinsey.

Pyur activates free Wi-Fi hotspots at Leipzig's Haus Auensee

Tele Columbus's Pyur brand has activated Wi-Fi hotspots at the Haus Auensee live music and concert venue in Leipzig, Germany, connecting users to Leipzig's City WLAN network. Tele Columbus EBITDA growth slows in Q4, targets improvement in 2018

German cable network operator Tele Columbus reported revenues of EUR 128.2 million for the fourth quarter of 2017, a 4.6 percent increase from EUR 122.6 million a year earlier. EBITDA rose 3.9 percent to EUR 72.9 million, and the EBITDA margin dipped to 56.9 percent from 57.2 percent in Q4 2016. The company said it spent EUR 87.1 million, or 67.9 percent of revenues, on investments in Q4, up from 62.9 percent a year earlier.

Tele Columbus's B2B subsidiary HL Komm Telekommunikations will operate under the Pyur brand name going forward, announced the German operator. Pyur activates broadband upgrades in Grimmen

Tele Columbus' Pyur brand has activated its broadband network in Grimmen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania following a 14-month upgrade to its network. Over 3,400 households in Grimmen now have access to broadband internet delivering speeds up to 400 Mbps as well as telephone and HD cable TV services. Pyur said it laid over 7.5 kilometres of fibre-optic cable as part of the roll-out.

Pyur activates broadband network in Saxony-Anhalt

Tele Columbus's Pyur brand has activated its broadband network in the city of Stassfurt in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Around 4,600 households in Stassfurt Housing Association are now connected to Pyur's network delivering speeds of 400 Mbps. The company has laid 19 km of fibre-optic cable in Stassfurt since November 2016 as part of the FTTB expansion, which will provide the basis for future gigabit-speed upgrades.

Germany's Pepcom activates high-speed network in Pritzwalk

Tele Columbus subsidiary Pepcom said it has activated its fibre-optic network for the Pritzwalk Housing Association in the state of Brandenburg after seven months of construction work. Pepcom connected a total of 1,445 housing units as well as 22 business units to internet at speeds of up to 400 Mbps.

Tele Columbus sees 7% EBITDA growth in Q3, confirms FY expectations

German cable operator Tele Columbus reported Q3 revenues of EUR 123.3 million, up 4.3 percent from the same quarter one year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA amounted to EUR 68.3 million, an increase of 7.2 percent from the third quarter of 2016. For the full year 2017, Tele Columbus confirmed its earlier expectations of mid-single digit percentage revenue growth and high-single digit adjusted EBITDA growth.

Tele Columbus starts roll-out of Pyur brand

German cable operator Tele Columbus is rolling out the new Pyur brand from 04 October. Pyur is offering a package of 130 digital and 35 analogue TV channels for EUR 10 per month. For an extra EUR 10 per month, customers can get the advanceTV box and 22 additional private channels in HD. Pyur is also offering superfast broadband broadband packages, with download speeds of up to 200 Mbps for EUR 30 or up to 400 Mbps for EUR 40 per month.

Tele Columbus grows Q2 EBITDA 6%, sees better H2

German cable operator Tele Columbus reported second-quarter revenues up 3.7 percent to EUR 124.4 million, and adjusted EBITDA rose 5.8 percent year-on-year to EUR 62.4 million. The company maintained its full-year outlook and said results in H2 should benefit from a rebranding of subsidiaries and the launch of new tariffs.
