Tele2 NL wants to ensure open acess after Ziggo tie-up

Tele2 Netherlands CEO Jeff Dodds said that while approval by the European Commission for the tie-up between UPC and Ziggo was good for the companies involved, how it would affect consumers remained to be seen. With two dominant market parties in the Netherlands now, regulated access would remain necessary in the interest of consumer. "It's good news for UPC and Ziggo, but may be disadvantageous for consumers. Lack of sufficient competition can drive up prices and bring less product innovation," Dodds said.
