The deal was originally announced on 15 December 2017. Tele2 Netherlands has now been absorbed into T-Mobile Netherlands, and Tele2 owns 25 percent of the enlarged T-Mobile NL, while Deutsche Telekom holds 75 percent. Tele2 will also receive a cash payment of EUR 190 million, subject to standard closing adjustments.
The merged company has promised to deploy fibre, and in 2020, 5G. T-Mobile NL activated the first 5G antenna in Amsterdam in 2017. The company will in the first half of this year roll out fibre in The Hague, for 30,000 homes and 3,000 businesses.
For customers who have no or very slow internet, a mobile alternative is the fastest and most effective way to gain access to fast broadband, T-Mobile NL said. It will therefore ensure that 4G for Home can be offered even more widely.
