Telecom Egypt selects Juniper Networks for infrastructure expansion and upgrade

Juniper Networks has announced that it has been selected to design and execute a significant network capacity expansion and upgrade of Telecom Egypt's national infrastructure, serving a customer base of 9.8 million for fixed line services, 6.9 million for broadband and 7.3 million for mobile. This will support the sustained exponential growth of bandwidth demand and service quality expectations faced by Telecom Egypt and its root-and-branch digital transformation under the government's Digital Egypt and ICT 2020 initiatives.

The network will be equipped with 400G interfaces from Juniper's purpose-built IP transport portfolio using custom silicon to deliver high density, reliable data throughput and low cost-per-bit, it said. This will be complemented by Juniper’s standards-based automation portfolio for superior operational performance and assured end-user service.

Juniper will supply a customisable, automated network that can scale up and out to cater for exponential growth and future demands. The automated, flexible infrastructure collects, analyses, interprets and responds to live data reporting its own health status and traffic patterns. This will enable Telecom Egypt to operate more efficiently and cost effectively and to provide a "consistently exceptional" user service for business and residential customers alike.
