Telecom Italia activates 100 Mbps fibre service in Pomezia

Telecom Italia (TIM) has begun offering its high-speed fibre-optic broadband service in the town of Pomezia in the Rome province. The operator has connected 130 street cabinets to bring fibre-optic broadband at speeds of up to 100 Mbps to around 19,000 households, equivalent to 85 percent of the local population. Telecom Italia recently announced that it expects to increase total fibre customers to 5 million by 2018, around 40 percent of its broadband base.
