Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced an agreement with Amazon to offer the e-commerce giant's Prime Video catalogue of movies and TV series via the TIM Box decoder. Under the terms of the deal Prime Video will be available to all TIMvision customers already subscribed to Amazon Prime, who will be able to search for Prime Original productions using the decoder's “search and recommendations” options. Launched last year to act as the gateway to the operator's TIMvision service, the 4K HDR TIM Box features dual band 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi connectivity, 32GB for apps and a remote control with a voice search feature.
In addition to the Prime and TIMvision catalogues, the Android TV-based decoder also provides access to Netflix originals, DAZN, Eurosport and TIMgames as well as Google Play apps. Last month TIM and Amazon announced a trial of Alexa interaction with the TIM Box, allowing users to access Alexa functionality via the decoder’s remote control to listen to music, play a game, select a favourite TV series, watch the latest news or control their smart home.
