Telecom Italia denies network spin-off rumours

Telecom Italia (TIM) has issued another statement strongly denying press rumours pointing to a possible spin off or sale of its fixed copper network. "Network is a strategic asset for TIM and its industrial Plan: any speculation is therefore completely groundless," said the company. Last month Italy's economy minister Pier Carlo Padoan said there would be clear competitive advantages to spinning off TIM's fixed-line network, while business daily Il Sole 24 Ore recently reported that a plan being considered to bring an end to the impasse between Vivendi and the government would involve
