Tuesday 13 December 2016 | 09:59 CET | News
Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced the launch of fibre-optic services in the town of Massarosa in the northern region of Tuscany. The operator said it rolled out 17 km of cables and connected 38 street cabinets to extend the fibre-optic network to around 5,000 homes, allowing customers to access the internet at speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Earlier this year, TIM announced that it expects to bring fibre-optic technology to 84 percent of Italian homes by the end of 2018 via an investment of around EUR 3.6 billion.
