Telecom Italia, Metroweb tie-up still possible – Giacomelli

The possibility of a tie-up between Telecom Italia and broadband provider Metroweb is still on the cards, according to Italian undersecretary for economic development in charge of telecommunications Antonello Giacomelli. In an interview with business daily Il Sole 24 Ore, Giacomelli spoke of the opportunities opened up by the government's recently approved Strategy for Italian Broadband and Digital Growth 2014-20 and confirmed that he still believed Milan-based Metroweb could act as the vehicle for the country's fibre-optic broadband expansion. "I think there's still room for an agreement,"
