Telecom Italia reaches deal with unions over job cuts - report

Tuesday 12 June 2018 | 11:25 CET | News
Telecom Italia (TIM) has reached an agreement with trade unions over plans to cut its 50,000-strong domestic workforce via a temporary lay-off scheme, reports Reuters, citing an unnamed source. The deal will achieve savings equivalent to 4,500 layoffs through so-called 'solidarity' measures, state-sponsored schemes that usually require employees to cut their working hours in exchange for reduced pay. The measures could affect some 30,000 TIM workers over a 12-month period, added the source.
