Telecom Italia to begin tower sale in September - report

Telecom Italia is looking to begin the process to sell its broadcast towers by September, reports Italian business daily Il Sole 24 Ore. The sale of around 8,000 broadcast towers was one of the cost-cutting measures announced by the company at the end of last year and is expected to raise up to EUR 1 billion. According to the report, Telecom Italia CEO Marco Patuano has been holding talks with the banks appointed as financial advisers regarding the possibility of setting up a company to sell the towers, around 50 percent of which could subsequently be floated on the stock exchange.
