Telecom Italia's efforts to recruit investors to create national broadband company halted - report

Friday 17 January 2020 | 17:48 CET | News
Telecom Italia's attempts to attract investors to help it create a national broadband champion with Open Fiber stopped as it's proving hard to forge a deal structure, writes Reuters citing sources close to the matter. The former Italian telecoms monopoly has been talking since last June with utility Enel and state lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) on ways of mixing their fibre broadband operations. However, talks lead to no result so far as Enel is reluctant to part with its business and regulatory and funding issues clouding the horizon.
