Telefonica adds 100,000 new FTTH customers in April and May
Telefonica added around 100,000 new Movistar fibre customers between April and May to surpass the figure of 800,000 FTTH customers in Spain, report Cinco Dias. In April the company announced that all current Movistar ADSL 10 Mbps customers would be migrated to the Movistar Fibre 10 Mbps offering free of charge where coverage is available. It also launched a number of new fibre-based quadruple play packages from EUR 42 per month. As a result, the company expects to reach the figure of 1 million fibre customers during the second half of the year.

Spanish FTTH connections grow 87% YoY to 696,000 in February

Fixed broadband subscriptions increased by 69,030 in Spain in February, around 60 percent of which corresponded to new FTTH connections. Telefonica is conducting a two-month trial deploying a 4G femtocell low-power cellular base station to 100 of its fibre-optic customers to boost their home mobile reception.
