Telefonica among victims of global ransomware attack

Spain's Telefonica is among the victims of a ransomware outbreak that has affected thousands of companies and public organisations worldwide, including the UK's National Health Service, the Russian interior ministry, Chinese universities, FedEx branches and Nissan. Telefonica confirmed that its system had come under attack from a cybersecurity incident that affected the personal computers of some of its employees on 12 May. Local daily El Mundo said hundreds of PCs of Telefonica employees had been infected by the WCry 2.0 ransomware, also known as WannaCry or WanaCrypt0r. Loudspeakers at
