Telefonica and Claro fined PEN 38 mln for Peru mobile network breaches

Peruvian telecommunications services regulator Osiptel has fined Telefonica del Peru (Movistar) and America Movil (Claro) a total of nearly PEN 37 million for breaches of mobile network quality commitments and unfair competition rules. The watchdog upheld most of the fines imposed on Telefonica last year for failing to comply with quality of service commitments in a total of 92 localities throughout the country, ultimately fining the operator a total of PEN 31.76 million.
