Telefonica and Facebook launch LatAm digital divide project

Telefonica has announced at MWC that it will be working with Facebook on a digital divide project to connect more than 100 million people in Latin America to the internet. Citing figures indicating that 20 percent of the region's population still lacks proper access to mobile broadband, the company said its "Internet para todos" initiative will seek to incorporate a broad range of partners and stakeholders to solve the rural connectivity challenge. Telefonica and Facebook are already collaborating on a number of projects using new technologies and operating models to make wireless broadband
