Telefonica boosts Colombian capacity by 200% with PCCS cable

Telefonica Colombia has announced that it will be able to meet the data demands of its 15.8 million customers thanks to the launch of the Pacific Caribbean Cable System (PCCS). The 6,000 km submarine cable connects Ecuador, Panama, Colombia, Aruba, Curacao, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, terminating in Jacksonville, Florida. In a system the company said the 80 Terabits-per-second PCCS will serve to boost the capacity of its own network by 200 percent. PCCS is owned by a group of telecommunications operators including Cable & Wireless Communications, Setar, Telconet,
