Telefonica closes sale of majority stake in Chile fibre unit to KKR

Friday 2 July 2021 | 10:10 CET | News
Telefonica said it has completed the sale of a majority 60 percent stake in its Chilean fibre-optic network to global investment firm KKR around 10 days after the transaction was approved by the country's antitrust authority. The partners announced the USD 1 billion deal earlier this year, adding that they intended to convert the subsidiary – dubbed InfraCo – into Chile's first open access wholesale fibre-optic company, building, operating and selling infrastructure as well as providing wholesale services to all current and future telecom operators.
