Telefonica completes live LTE call trial with Alcatel-Lucent
Alcatel-Lucent and Telefonica Peru have completed a live LTE call trial using the 700 MHz frequency band, which is used to deliver mobile broadband internet services throughout the region. Alcatel-Lucent and Telefonica have demonstrated the LTE performance in the 700 MHz frequency band in real-world network conditions, achieving good in-building coverage. In addition, LTE data upload and download capabilities in this frequency band were tested, reaching speeds 20 times faster than the average in HSPA. The tests are part of Telefonica's LTE field pilot in the Peruvian capital of Lima, where the operator is analyzing LTE coverage capabilities as well as its capacity to support the delivery of new mobile applications.

NEC completes LTE trial at Telefonica de Argentina

NEC has successfully completed LTE laboratory trials with Telefonica. The trial was rolled out between February and March at Telefonica de Argentina. NEC provided Telefonica de Argentina labs with a total LTE network system that consisted of core network systems and wireless base stations.
