Telefonica completes sale of historic Barcelona HQ for EUR 100 mln

Telefonica has completed the sale of its historic Barcelona headquarters to the Switzerland-based Basque entrepreneur Daniel Mate for a total of EUR 100 million, reports El Pais. The HQ occupies an iconic building built in 1928 in the central Plaza Catalunya and has 8,530 square meters of space on 11 floors above ground plus a basement. Under the terms of the deal, Telefonica will continue renting space in the building, which houses a 'Movistar Center' retail space open to the public on the three lowest floors, including a flagship area similar to that on Madrid's Gran Via with interactive
