Telefonica discussing O2 sale with Liberty, Sky, TalkTalk

Telefonica is keeping open a number of options regarding the future of its UK subsidiary O2. Not only is 3 UK owner Hutchison Whampoa in early stage talks to buy the UK's second-largest mobile phone operator for up to GBP 9 billion, according to the Sunday Times, but Spanish daily El Economista reported that Telefonica is also discussing a possible sale with other players such as Liberty Global, Sky and TalkTalk. "All options remain open," said the unnamed sources cited in the report. The sources add that the discussions have been informal and that there are no exclusive negotiations
