Telefonica fined EUR 3 mln for co-location breaches in 100 exchanges

Tuesday 14 May 2019 | 10:18 CET | News
Spain's communications regulator CNMC has fined Telefonica a total of EUR 3 million "very serious" breaches of its obligation to inform the watchdog and rival operators of changes in the use of many of its ADSL and fibre network exchanges. As the dominant player in the wholesale broadband market, Telefonica is required to share information with other operators about space availability at its plants. By failing to do so, the former incumbent deprived its competitors of the possibility of planning their fixed broadband deployment, said the CNMC.
