Telefonica Germany appoints Chief Commercial Officer

Telefonica Germany has announced the appointment of Tony Hanway as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) with responsibilities for Service and Sales nationwide. Hanway will remain CEO of Telefonica Ireland until the acquisition of O2 in Ireland by Hutchison Whampoa is completed in 2014. In his new role, he will report directly to Telefonica Germany CEO Rene Schuster and will manage the 1,000 O2 retail outlets nationwide, the www.o2.de online-retail portal, indirect sales channels, as well as other customer service contact points. He replaces John McGuigan, who is leaving the Telefonica Group after
