Telefonica in talks with TIM and America Movil to acquire Brazil's Oi - report

Spain's Telefonica is planning a three-way deal with Telecom Italia (TIM) and America Movil to acquire the asset's of Brazil's fourth telecommunications operator Oi, according to unnamed sources cited by Spanish business daily Expansion. The agreement would provide synergies for the buyers in terms of frequencies, towers and retail stores, while reducing the level of competition, said the report, adding that the plan is for the three leading operators to buy Oi together before distributing the assets.
