Telefonica invests in blockchain-based data monetisation app

Wednesday 28 February 2018 | 12:09 CET | News
Telefonica has revealed that it's one of the early investors in Wibson, a startup that offers monetary incentives for people to securely promote personal information. The startup launched its blockchain-based prototype app at Mobile World Congress with the aim of helping users to monetise their data by connecting them with direct purchase offers from data buyers such as Facebook. Users who sell data via the Wibson prototype during the preliminary stage will be able to redeem credits for Wibcoins that will power the full marketplace when it launches later this year, said the company.
