Telefonica issues first 'green bond' in telecom sector

Telefonica has become the first company in the telecommunications sector to issue a 'green bond' with the specific aim of funding future environmental and energy-saving projects, confirming earlier reports. In a statement, the company said the EUR 1 billion five-year offering was very well received by institutional investors, with the demand allowing the coupon to be fixed at 1.069 percent, up to 25 base points below the initial price indications.
