Telefonica Mexico aiming to save MXN 10 bln in spectrum fees - report

Telefonica Mexico may receive MXN 7.9 billion in reimbursed spectrum payments from the Mexican state and avoid having to pay out a further MXN 2.6 billion in licence fees if the Supreme Court (SCJN) accepts an appeal lodged by the company. Local daily El Universal reports that the first chamber of the SCJN is about to rule on the operator's appeal against article 244-A of the Federal Rights Law that establishes the fee to be paid for the 700MHz band used by the recently-activated 'Red Compartida' wholesale 4G shared network compared to the rate established in article 244-B for the 1,900MHz
