Telefonica Mexico sales return to growth in Q1, postpay clients up 3%

Friday 10 May 2019 | 09:42 CET | News
Telefonica Mexico returned to growth in the first quarter of 2019, with sales up 1.2 percent year on year to EUR 296 in the January to March period following 5 negative quarters. The figure was driven by improvements in prepay and postpay customer numbers and above all a 24.0 percent surge in handset revenues to EUR 73 million. However, the company's operating income before depreciation and amortisation (OIBDA) fell by 46.2 percent year on year to EUR 22 million in the first quarter due to acquisition of spectrum in the 2.5 GHz and 1.9 GHz bands, while the OIBDA margin halved to 7.5 percent.
