Telefonica removes interest-free phone instalment plans

Thursday 21 January 2016 | 10:06 CET | News
Movistar (Telefonica) is no longer offering interest-free monthly instalment plans for users looking to acquire a new smartphone, reports tech website Xataka Movil. The operator previously offered new customers porting their number to Movistar the opportunity to buy a new device and spread the cost over 12, 24 or 30 months, interest free. However, the company has now started charging existing customers an APR of 11.02 percent, while new customers will pay an APR of 18.97 percent over 24 months.
