Telefonica required to share half of TV content - report

Telefonica is to be required to offer at least 50 percent of its premium TV channels to rival operators as one of the conditions for the approval of its proposed takeover of Spanish pay-TV platform Digital+. Unnamed sources cited by business daily Expansion indicate that Spain's communications regulator CNMC will only green light the deal if Telefonica agrees to cede half of the premium channels currently broadcast on both Canal+ and Movistar TV to its rivals at regulated prices.
